In order to enter Maldives the Indian nationals visiting Maldives as a tourist do not require any pre-arrival visa. A free Maldives Tourist Visa which is valid for approximately ninety days is issued to Indian nationals on arriving at the Male airport.
Travellers must meet the following criteria:
- Should possess a valid passport and;
- Have a valid ticket to continue the journey out of Maldives
- Have enough funds to cover the expenses for duration of the stay in Maldives. (US$100 + $50 dollars per day) or
- Confirmation of reservation in a Tourist Resort or a Hotel.
- Invitation letter and any additional original documents to supplement your purpose of visit (for business travelers)
- A Tourist Visa allows you to stay in the Maldives for 30 days, but may be extended for another 60-day period.
- Full 30 – day visa is not a right of the passenger to claim, but lies at the discretion of the Immigration to issue not more than thirty days and any period less than thirty days.
- Handwritten passports are rejected instantly.
- Passports which are issued for a period of more than 10 years are considered invalid.
- There should be at least two blank pages in the passport for stamping the visa.
